Life Without God

Life Without God "Meaningless! Meaningless! says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." Ecclesiastes 1:2 These were the words of King Solomon, the man who asked God only for wisdom, and were written in the twilight of his years, after he had lived his life with more wisdom than any man had ever known. During his life, King Solomon had experienced great wealth, had great power, and had all the pleasures and desires of the heart, that life had to offer, but when he assessed all that he had been given, was calling it all "meaningless." With his life largely behind him, King Solomon, even with all his wisdom, and all the things that God had blessed him with, is telling us that everything is utterly meaningless without God. Solomon had realized by his old age, that he had not always relied on God, and that all that he was blessed with and given, was meaningless, without God. The message I want you to get from this devotional today, is for you to realize that a life not centered on God, is truly purposeless and meaningless also. Without God, nothing else will satisfy you. The wealth you may accumulate, the power you may hold, the honors you may earn, the social status you may acquire, will all be meaningless, without God in your life. I believe King Solomon, even with his great wisdom, and his great wealth still felt that his life was meaningless, because he had not made God first in his life. Our life on earth is short, and is but for a season, as we are not promised tomorrow, but while we are here we do not want it to be meaningless. While you still have time, I would encourage you to turn to God, and rely on Him, to lead and guide you in all that you do, so that you can say "my life has a purpose, and is not meaningless", in the sight of God.
