Pitch Or Pile
Pitch Or Pile
"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters."
Psalm 24:1
Over the years we have moved several times, as I accepted new jobs at hospitals during my career as a Hospital Administrator. Each time we moved we were faced with the decision of what material possessions we wanted to take with us. We made the choice to "pitch or pile", and usually kept more than we needed, and had piles of stuff, like pants that were two sizes smaller than I could wear, but some day they would fit again. The need pile usually was enormous as compared to the pitch pile. When you become a Christian and ask Jesus into your heart you are faced with this dilemma as you have to make a decision to pitch the sins that have bound you over the years. You have to rid yourself of many of the things that you have accumulated during your life, sometimes even things that you have enjoyed. I will call this the "Satan Pile", as these are the things that you must leave behind. Things like anger, unforgiveness, lying, foul language, selfishness and many other sins will have to be left behind. However, you will also start a new "Jesus pile", and begin accumulating things that God will approve and want you to have, such as love, forgiveness, acceptance, peace, joy, contentment and happiness. It is necessary to give up the old ways and take on the new ways as it wouldn't really profit us to own and hoard the whole world if we lost our soul. So if we keep our soul, we have more gain - much more - than if we actually did possess the entire world. The new pile leads to an eternal life in Heaven, but the old pile leads to an eternity in the fiery pits of Hell. Make your decision today to rid yourself of the things that could keep you from experiencing the joys of Heaven, and ask Jesus into your heart.
