Seek God's Will

Seek God's Will "Rejecting the advice of the elders, he followed the advice of the young men and said, 'My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier." 2 Chronicles 10:13-14 In the scripture above King Rehoboam stubbornly rejected the wise advice of his nation's elders and instead followed those who told him only what he wanted to hear. As a result, conflict broke out and the nation became divided. The Bible warns us, "Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." Galatians 6:7. Tragically, many people are the victims of their own bad decisions. We are faced with choices each day of our lives, and so often we turn our backs on what is right or what is best, and decide instead on what is wrong or what will bring us harm. Only afterwards do we really realize that our bad decisions have resulted in bad consequences. When we make the wrong choices, we are seeing Satan at work in our lives, as he has tempted us to do the wrong things, and we have followed him. When we make the right choices, we have followed the Holy Spirit, who is always there to lead and guide us on the paths that God wants us to follow. We can always seek the words of God, found in our Bibles, which will give us the wisdom we need to do the right things, but so often we don't seek the relationship with God that we need and make bad choices. Life is filled with decisions, some minor, but some are life changing. The most important thing I can encourage you to do is this: Seek God's will in every decision you make, pray about which choice to make, then turn to your Bible to find God's wisdom. If you have godly friends seek their advice and their wisdom. When you have Jesus with you each day you also have the Holy Spirit which will lead and guide you to do the things that are right and are pleasing to God. Always remember that God loves you, and that His way is always the best. Robert William Brock My Daily Devotional Volume Seven October 13
