Seek God's Wisdom

Seek God's Wisdom "For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul." Proverbs 2:10 A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble. In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the passengers that they had better jump, and bailed out. Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes remaining. The doctor grabbed one and said "I'm a doctor, I save lives, so I must live," and jumped out. The lawyer then said, "I'm a lawyer and lawyers are the smartest people in the world. I deserve to live." He also grabbed a parachute and jumped. The priest looked at the little boy and said, "My son, I've lived a long and full life. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace." The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest and said, "Don't worry, Father. The 'smartest man in the world' just took off with my back pack." This humorous story reminds us just how little regard most people have for others. They are looking out for themselves and their best interest, and not having much concern for their fellow man. Society has pressured people to strive to be first in all they do, to have the biggest house, the biggest car, belong to the finest clubs, and to have more wealth than their friends and neighbors. However, just as the attorney in the story above they can soon find out that their wealth and material possessions don't mean anything, as the wisdom of God, is something that they lack, as unless their values and priorities are in the proper perspective and in the right order, they have nothing. God's greatest commandment is to love Him and also to love others as we love ourselves, and unless our values have this as our priority, there is little else that matters. Robert W.
