Don't Wait Too Long

Don't Wait Too Long

"He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts"
Romans 4:5

I was reminded today by the obituary of a young man who died of a heart attack, just how fragile life really is, and how suddenly it can end. The obituary listed his wife, his children, his parents and other family members, but did not mention the church he attended, as the chaplain from the hospital was to preside over his funeral. When I see this in any obituary, I wonder if these people had a close relationship with Jesus. They woke up in the morning, not realizing that this would be their last day on this earth. All the planning they had done, all the money they had made, all the wealth they had accumulated, all the titles they had by their name doesn't mean anything if they did not have Jesus in their hearts. The Bible warns us that we only have until we take our last breath, to make the choice where we will spend our eternity. Our life on this earth is only for a season, and could end at any time, and it is so important to make the choice to ask Jesus into our hearts, so that our future beyond this earth is secure. It is such an important choice, but one that so many don't take the time to make. It is so easy to live in the present, enjoying our hobbies, doing our own thing, accumulating wealth, enjoying life and the luxuries and pleasures it can afford, and not looking ahead and preparing ourselves for the day of judgment. We will all someday die, some sooner than others, as we are not promised tomorrow. If there is one thing I could ask you to do today, it would be to make sure you are right with God. He is the only judge that you will face when your time on earth is over, and if you have not asked Jesus into your heart, you will spend your eternity in Hell. Secure your future, do it today.
