You Can't Hide

You Can't Hide “They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.’ For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” Revelation 6:16-17 I was reminded when I read this scripture of a story I saw several years ago and had kept in my files. It supposedly is a true story of a man in Pennsylvania who lived a life of sin and died in 1867. He thought up a plan to cheat the devil as he knew that he would be waiting for him at his death. His plan was to arrange his burial place where the devil could not get to him in the resurrection. There was a huge stone which leaned approximately 45 degrees and looked as if the slightest tremor would cause it to fall. His plan was to be buried under that rock, thinking that on Judgment Day when the earth trembled and mountains shook, the leaning stone would fall, completely burying and hiding him from the devil. His wishes were granted and with great effort he was buried under that rock. Since that time however the huge stone has moved. The stone did not move as it should have moved which was over toward his grave, but has moved the other way whereby it is now standing straight and maybe even leaning away from the grave. The story whether we believe it or not demonstrates the point that there is no way that anyone can hide from God or the devil. Nothing however will prevent us from one day standing before God and giving an account of our lives. We cannot take the chance that God may come tonight or tomorrow, but need to be prepared today in order to assure our place in heaven. Accept Jesus today as your savior, and be prepared for His coming again. Robert W. Brock My Daily Devotional Volume Six December 19
