Little By Little

Little By Little "Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land." Exodus 23:30 I grew up on a farm in Southeastern Kentucky, and my grandparents lived by the principle of "little by little, as we were not wealthy and just had enough to barely get by day by day. In the 23rd chapter of Exodus, God is giving the Israelites specific instructions about the laws of justice and mercy, how to obey the Sabbath, celebrate the annual festivals, and how He will prepare the way for them to possess their promised land. The key scripture in this entire chapter, which is shown above, tells us that all of these things would take place "little by little". God had the power and might to immediately allow all of these things to happen, but He fulfilled all His promises little by little. Why didn't He do a miracle, like He had just done in parting the waters of the Red Sea, and let them take possession immediately? God, however, knew that a place of instant abundance and blessings would not be good for them, as they would not be able or ready to receive them. He knew that it would take time for them to adjust and handle the blessings He was giving them. There may be situations in your own life today, where you would love to have the immediate and miraculous rescue that would eliminate your problems. Maybe you are in severe financial trouble, and need immediate rescue. God could provide instant relief, if He chose to do so, but knows that you probably would not have the wisdom and maturity to handle it. Throughout the Bible God teaches us that even our money should be earned, saved and grow "little by little", as we are not ready or able to handle a sudden windfall. Little by little, God will give you complete victory over your situations, by having faith day by day. Robert W. Brock My Daily Devotional Volume Seven October 26
