Be Content

Be Content “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12 Our world is full of unhappy and dissatisfied people. For this reason, people everywhere are looking for answers to the emptiness they feel inside. They are willing to try anything that might bring them some sort of relief, satisfaction or happiness. Perhaps this explains why there is so much divorce, suicide, drug dependency, alcohol abuse, criminal behavior, sexual impurity, depression, pornography, eating disorders, emotional and psychological disorders. We all want the abundant life that Jesus promised us, but so often we want in our way and not the way that Jesus intended. We all want to find happiness and satisfaction in our lives, but often try to satisfy ourselves with wealth, material possessions, power or prestige; however it is not through these means that we are going to be satisfied and fulfilled. It is not our wealth and material possessions that God will reward us for, but it is our good deeds and the way that we have obeyed his commands and followed his will for us, that we will be rewarded for. When we give our hearts to Jesus and follow him, this is the only way that we will receive the abundant life that Jesus promised. We don’t have to worry about the necessities of life as Jesus promises us that he will provide all our needs. We will be at peace, and content with what God has provided. This is the abundant life that Jesus promises us. We will not be concerned about all the materialism of this world, but will be filled with peace and joy, and a life that is happy knowing that God is in control, and is protecting and providing for us. This is Jesus’ promise to us. God wants us to have the abundant life, but we have to surrender ourselves to him and trust in him to provide it to us. Robert W.
