Say Yes To Jesus

Say Yes To Jesus "And this is what He promised us - even eternal life". 1 John 2:25 We get to keep our two grandchildren, ages 4 and 18 months old, a couple of times a week, when their parents go to meetings or need to have a time by themselves. When our children are small, it seems like we spend a lot of time saying "no" to them. "No, no! Don't touch that - it's hot." "No, you can't play with the television remote or the phone, or don't take the picture from the coffee table." "You can't throw your food on the floor and step on it." " No Way!" The Bible also is constantly telling us "no", as throughout all the scriptures and God's commands He is telling us "no", we can't do certain things. When we read the Ten Commandments, we see that nine of them contain some form of "Thou shalt not". Jesus tells us in the Sermon on the Mount not to pray like the hypocrites, not to store up treasures on earth, and not to worry. Other times the Bible tells us not to worship our money and wealth. We are not to lie, to steal, to murder, to commit adultery. We continually struggle against sinful desires which Jesus tells us not to follow as they are bad and harmful. The Scriptures continually tell us, "No, no. Don't do it!". But also included in the words of God, there are so many times when He says "yes" to us. God delights in the many ways He can say, "Yes," to us through His Son Jesus Christ. "Yes, I will forgive your sins and cleanse you by the blood of the Lamb." "Yes, I will call you my child because you believe in His name." "You want to live forever in the presence of the Lord? Yes, you will." In Jesus Christ, all God's promises are "Yes." You can also say "yes" to Jesus today by accepting Him into your heart. Dear God, when I think of all the promises You have given and fulfilled through Your Son Jesus, my heart overflows with love and gratitude. Thank You for saying "Yes" to me. In Jesus' holy name, I come before you. Amen. Robert W. Brock My Daily Devotional Volume Seven January 30
