What Is Your True Wealth

What Is Your True Wealth “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1st Timothy 6:6-7 Having spent my career in management, I have encountered many wealthy people who were on my boards of directors, physicians, and owners of very large corporations. I have seen some of these people who were men of God, and lived their faith by their actions and behavior in their daily life. I have also witnessed others who, it was obvious did not follow God, and were of the world. All these people were very successful in their business careers, all the ones that were saved and the ones that were lost. I have always wondered why God lets the just and also the unjust prosper? Why does He let people who do not worship him be successful and seem to be happy? When we look back at Biblical history we also see this even in the days of Jesus. The rich ruler wanted to follow Jesus, but when he was told that he had to give all his wealth away, he left sad as he could not part with his money. The Bible tells us that wealth and material possessions will keep many from the Kingdom of Heaven, Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." This is so unfortunate that people cannot look beyond the present, and realize that this life is only temporary and in a fleeting moment, it will be gone. We cannot take the wealth that we accumulate today with us when we die, as it will rust and rot away and be spent by others. Our soul will last for all eternity, existing either in Heaven, with our Lord and Savior, or in the fires of Hell, with Satan. Each one makes this choice where they will spend eternity, and the wealth and material possessions they own will, in many cases, be the determining factor.
