Wait For God
"You have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you as King over Israel."
1st Samuel 15:26
Many of you are waiting for the breakthrough from the Lord in your lives. Many of you are holding on to a word, or promise that He has given you about your lives, families, and your callings. You are saying to yourselves, "I know He said He would show up, and make the way for me, but where is He"? God is giving you this time of waiting, so you can show Him how well you are yielding to situations, circumstances, and giving your life to His timing and leadership. This lesson of waiting for God is seen so well in the story of King Saul, who had been told to wait seven days so that the Prophet Samuel could make a sacrifice to the Lord, before they were to go into battle with the Philistines. When Samuel did not show up in the seven days, Saul became scared; asking, "where is the Man of God"? Saul, seeing that his troops were scattered, and that Samuel had not come within the appointed days, made the sacrifice himself. Saul "felt compelled" to do this because of the people, not God. Earlier in his life Saul had seen Samuel make a sacrifice in front of the Philistine army and the Lord destroyed them. Saul knew this, but he made his decision based on the desire to please man not to please God. God punished Saul by replacing him with the young King David. David was a man who lived to wait for the Lord, even when He put intentional delays in his path. The breakthrough you are waiting for in your life, may be this same kind of delay of the Lord, and may be the opportunity for Him to perform an even greater work, than you might have been thinking of and preparing for. Don't become impatient, wait for God.
