Test Yourself

Test Yourself “Each one should test his own actions then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each should carry his own load.” Galatians 6:4 I feel it is extremely important to continually test ourselves to see if we are doing the things that God intended for us to do. I believe if we can get in a habit of evaluating ourselves on a daily basis, we will find that there will be times we did something that we felt proud of, and there will be times we did things that we were not proud of, and also would not be pleasing in the sight of God. It is also important to test yourself as to how well you accomplished what you set out to do. This is the importance of having goals and objectives. By beginning each day with, for example, the goal of being a positive influence on the people you met, it is equally as important to know if you accomplished your goal or fell short. These do not have to be major situations, but could simply be a friendly conversation at the local coffee shop with a waitress. Did you leave the waitress with comments that would be uplifting to her or did you grumble about the wait to get your coffee? By handling a situation as simple as this in an uplifting manner, could have set the tone for her day. Consider all of these times when you came into contact with your fellow man, and evaluate these encounters as to whether you left a positive impact on them or a negative impact. After doing this daily assessment of your encounters, and how you reacted to each of them for several days, you will begin to become much more aware of the times you reacted badly, and hopefully will begin to see a pattern which will indicate that there is room for improvement in the way you dealt with each of these situations.
