Are You Lonely
"Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress."
Psalm 102:1-2
With all the busyness of our world, people seem to get involved with so many things and activities in their lives, that it would appear that they would never feel alone. However, I believe that loneliness is a problem that many people face in their everyday lives, even with all the activity that surrounds them. I get many e-mails from my readers stating that they feel all alone many times in dealing with everyday issues, and that others don't seem to care. Sickness, a busy work schedule, moving to a new location, job, or school can bring a feeling of loneliness, as it takes time to build new connections. Often times this will pass as we adjust to the new situations, and the feeling will go away. When our minds start telling us that no one's interested in us, we can build a wall around ourselves, and don't allow people into our lives. The more we withdraw, the worse we feel. Our peace of mind will deteriorate, and loneliness will begin to weigh us down. God never intended us to live disconnected with others, as He told us to love others as we love ourselves. However, when we begin to isolate ourselves, and become reclusive our thoughts become more focused on ourselves, and loneliness will invade our lives. It is important to make others part of your life, as when you get your thoughts off yourself, you are following one of God's great commands. Also, unless you have a personal relationship with God, you will never find true peace, as God will always be the Light that will lead you out of loneliness.
