Today Is The Day

Today Is The Day

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
Matthew 25:46

To follow up on the prior devotional, I just read some statistics that stated that about 56 million people will die this year. Breaking this down that is about 155,131 per day and 6,464 that will die each hour. I don't know if these statistics are true, but they make me realize just how fragile our life is. We all have to die, but the ones that know Jesus as their savior will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and will have an eternal life, in Heaven. All lost people will also die, and they will face a future that also has no end, but they will find themselves in Hell. There are many scriptures in the Bible that describes what Hell will be like, and none of them gives us any desire to be there. Hell is the place of eternal, unending pain, misery and torture. It is a place of darkness so impenetrable that none of the lost will ever see light or relief, which is why it is described as the place where there will be wailing, howling and gnashing of teeth. It is the place where body and soul are tormented, but never consumed by the hellish worms that feed upon them and never die. Nothing will be so horrible about Hell as its endlessness, as is indicated in the scripture above. I hope that all that read this devotional will stop and think for a moment about what Hell will be like, and take the steps necessary to secure your future. There is still time to turn your life around, and ask Jesus into your heart, to keep from going to this awful place. Jesus died on the cross to save you from Hell, so that you don't have to go there. The statistics indicate you may not have much time, don't delay.
