You Have A Choice

You Have A Choice

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?"
Mark 8:36

In our world today, the possession of wealth is the driving force in the lives of most families. Everyone wants the American Dream of owning a new home, a big car, taking dream vacations, going to the nicest restaurants, having the most up to date wardrobe, and all the other luxuries that money can buy. Fathers and mothers sacrifice their time, as both try to work to make enough money to accommodate a lifestyle that they really can't afford. They struggle with keeping their house and car payments current, and many depend upon credit to sustain their lifestyles. The Bible warns us against letting our money, and the pursuit of it control us, as it can become our gods. It even goes as far as saying that a rich man has as little chance to get to heaven as a camel has to go through the eye of a needle. This is warning us that when our life is focused on wealth and riches of this world, that they are not focused on God, but rather on our wealth. Someday each of you are going to lie in a morgue, and all your wealth, all your money, all your bank accounts are not going to matter anymore as it will not help you get to heaven. When you take your last breath, you will be judged not on the amount of wealth you have accumulated, but on whether you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. There will be only two destinations that will await you, either Heaven or Hell. In either of these two places you will spend all eternity. Yes, you can spend your life accumulating wealth, but if you forfeit your soul in order to get it, you have made a bad choice.
