Don't Be Afraid

Don't Be Afraid

"He replied, You of little faith, why are you so afraid?
Matthew 8:26

There seems to be mounting fear in our society today. The news about the economy causes many to fear for their jobs, and for their financial future. The war causes fear for the lives of our loved ones, who may be doing battle with our enemies. There are many things in our world today, that causes us to fear and threaten the stability and peace in life that we desire. When Jesus made the statement above to His disciples, He was addressing a problem that still remains with us today, and that is that we have little faith. When we have faith in anything, we will not be afraid. I can remember when our children learned to jump off the diving board into our swimming pool, they had faith that I would be there to catch them, and they were not afraid. However, if I was not there to catch them they were afraid to jump. Faith is the answer and the antidote to fear. The Bible tells us that "Faith comes by hearing the Word of God." One of Satan's biggest weapon is to cause us to doubt, to be afraid and have no faith, as this promotes a feeling of insecurity, fear and being defenseless, when problems come our way. Fear is an enemy of any child of God, and must be overcome consistently. Just as my children had faith that I would be there to catch them, you need to have faith that God will be there to catch you. When you have problems with your finances, your jobs, your health or any other issues, God is there for you. Just as He told His disciples, He is telling you, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?"
