Don't Be Deceived

Don't Be Deceived

"I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on to you."
1st Corinthians 11:2

Today, I heard a pastor preach his Sunday morning sermon about God's plan for marriage. Even though the message may have been valuable to some couples that were having problems in their marriages, I was disturbed to see just how much the humanistic value system is replacing the Bible's commands on this most sacred union. We find the word, "appreciate" your spouse instead of, "respect" and "love", being used to describe the relationship between a husband and wife. Instead of teaching the importance of God's presence in the family, prayer, creating Godly family values, going to church together, forgiveness and love in the family, the message could have been taken out of any of the modern day humanistic family counseling textbooks. In the Bible, God specifically tells us how the family should function, and the steps necessary to take to have a successful marriage, but the Bible's plan is being replaced by this more secular plan that people want to hear. God's plan for the family has not changed since time began, but our society is coming up with their own plans for how the family is to function, which is getting away from the plan God tells us to follow. The most important element in God's plan for the family is to make Him number one, and when this is taken out, it is no wonder that so many marriages end up in divorce. I would encourage you to be aware of any message that does not follow God's plan. God's plan has been around for all the ages, and will not fail. Don't be deceived by the secular plans of the world, but follow God.
