It's Not Too Late
"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope."
1st Thessalonians 4:13
This week I received an e-mail from a cousin in my hometown, asking me to pray for a family member as they were near death, and most likely do not know Jesus. This person has never expressed much interest for God or the Bible, and most likely will die in their sins, and their soul will be lost for all eternity. I asked if anyone had shared the path to salvation with them, and was told that they didn't know what to say, or how to approach them. This is so unfortunate as this could be an excellent opportunity to share Jesus with someone, and save them from hell. It would not be too late to reach this person, and lead them to Christ, if people would only get out of their comfort zones for something this important. If we love the people around us, as God commands us to love them, we should jump at the chance to lead them to Christ, who can give them an eternal life. We cannot prevent their earthly body from dying, but we can give them a better body, and a new life which will last for all eternity, just by sharing Jesus with them. There are no magical words that you need to use, just be yourself, and tell them what accepting Jesus can do for them. Life can be over in an instant, and we don't have a chance to save someone, but in situations like this you must reach out and try to save them. If you let them die without trying to save them, it is much like letting someone die in a raging flood without throwing them a rope. If you really love a person, you will love them enough to tell them about Jesus.
