Make God First In Your Life
"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."
Proverbs 3:9-10
How often do we as Christians really think of giving God our first fruits? When we get a raise, and think of what we are going to spend the extra money for, do we deduct God's 10% first? When we receive an unexpected check, or get money from an unexpected source, do we take out God's money first, before we spend it? We need to realize that everything we have, and receive in life, is due to God. We should keep the scripture above in mind throughout our lives, always giving our first fruits back to God. When we learn to honor the Lord with our wealth, He tells us that He will bless us with other things, and that our storehouses will be overflowing. When you make out your monthly or annual budgets, you always need to put your tithes and offerings first on your list. This is giving God the first fruits of your earnings. When you make a decision as to what you are going to spend each month, and your budget is tight, don't neglect to pay God first. Even if you have to sacrifice in some other area, always make your tithes and offerings, and honor God. By always making God first in everything, this is the way that you are showing Him that you have put your trust in Him. This is showing Him that He is first in your life. The Bible tells us that God is faithful if we trust in Him, and that He will provide all of our needs, and we honor this trust by giving Him our first fruits. Don't put other priorities and selfish desires in front of God, but always make Him first in your life, and in all you do.
