Our World Is Not Different

Our World Is Not Different

"What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted."
Proverbs 10:24

Yesterday, I saw some statistics that indicated that the average family changed jobs every 5 years. When I think back about my ancestors, as I was growing up, no one ever changed jobs. If they were a coal miner, they spent their lives working in the coal mines. If they were a farmer, that is what they did their entire lives. Families also stayed in the same location, usually living in the same house their entire life, going to the same church, and having the same friends. Stability would be the word that would best describe the previous generation. So much has changed in our society today, as nothing seems stable anymore. We change churches at the drop of a hat, we change jobs anytime we think one offers us more money, we move from one house and one area to another, trying to better ourselves. I believe we also see this instability showing up in our commitment to God, as our generation has compromised the Word of God, to suit our own wants and desires. We have taken God's commands, and tried to justify them to fit our needs, forgetting that the Bible has been around for over 2 thousand years, and has never changed. However, our generation has decided that we are different, and the laws of the Bible doesn't apply anymore to our generation. We now justify abortion, homosexuality, the right to abolish prayer from our schools, because we are different, and live in different times. If we continue to defy the word of God, our generation will be the new Sodom and Gomorrah, and will feel the wrath of God's punishment.
