What's In Your Heart
"The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction."
Proverbs 16:21
I have written many devotionals over the years about the importance of our speech. The words that we speak through our mouth, is the overflow of what our heart really is like. Out of our heart comes words that can hurt, defame, slander, demoralize, discourage, and show anger for, and against others. Also out of our heart can come words that comfort, encourage, show love, give peace and show caring for others. We need to be careful and guard our hearts, and not store up resentment and anger in them, as sooner or later people will see our true self being revealed. We can hide our real self for only a time, before our inner being will be revealed. I have encountered many people over the years, that have tried to hide behind a mask, to prevent their true inner feelings from showing through. However, eventually their true self is revealed, and their ugliness becomes evident for all to see. Only God knows what is inside each of us. Only He knows our hearts, and our true character. Our character is a defining element of each of our lives. It determines how well we fulfill our destiny, and the plan that God has for us. In order to fulfill God's plan for our lives, we must begin to get our hearts right. This will enable us to have the right thoughts and actions that will be pleasing to God. I would encourage each of you to think about your heart today. and leave you with these thoughts: "Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your legacy."
