God's Call
"But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it."
Exodus 4:13
I imagine that many of you have had the experience of being called to serve, and had mixed feelings about saying, "yes God, here I am, willing to do your bidding!" When God calls you, and sooner or later God will call you to do minor and major tasks, you have a choice. You can either say "Yes God, here I am" or you can say "No God, find someone else." In the scripture above, God has just called Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, and his first response was to find someone else to do it. When God again asked Moses to go to Pharaoh, and ask him to free the Israelites, Moses replied, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh" Exodus 3:11. It is certain that Moses was very nervous and unsure about himself, in both of these situations, but God reassured Moses when He said, "I will be with you." Exodus 3:12. As we know Moses accepted God's calling, and led the people of Israel out of Egypt. What is going to be your response, when you hear God calling you to do something for Him? You may feel nervous, as Moses did. You may think that God should choose someone else, but you need to remember that God does not call you, if He isn't going to be with you, just as He was with Moses. God knows all things. He is not going to set you up for failure. If He calls you for anything, it will be accomplished in God's timeframe, and you will not fail. You may not understand why you were chosen, but God does, as it is part of His plan for you. So when God calls you to serve in your church, your place of work, or in any capacity, don't run away from the calling, but accept the call, as God will be with you.
