God's Unending Spring

"For with you is the fountain of life; in your life, we see light."
Psalm 36:9

It is unfortunate that most people get their happiness and joy from the good things in life. As long as everything goes their way, and there are no problems confronting them, they feel happy, but let troubles start to roll in and their happiness and joy fades quickly. When their health fails, a relationship breaks down, they lose their job or some other problem pops up, their joy goes with it. I remember a little spring near my home in Kentucky, where everyone would get water, that never varied its flow of cool, clear water. During floods in the spring, or in the droughts during the summer, the flow of water from this little spring continued its steady continuous flow. This is the kind of peace and joy that we all yearn for, regardless of whether times are good, or when the storm clouds roll in. We would like to have this consistent peace and joy in life, that doesn't vary from season to season, regardless of what is going on around us. Jesus promises us this peace, "but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:14 If you are struggling with problems in your life that have robbed you of your happiness and joy, you need to seek Jesus, who can calm your storms, even during the most vicious attacks, and give you back your happiness. The Bible tells us that we will experience troubles in life, but just as Jesus did with His disciples on the boat, He can calm the waves. Jesus can also calm your waves, and let you experience the unending spring of God.
