Is God Shaping You

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 2:5

This is one of the most powerful scriptures in the Bible, but tells us the goal we should strive for in our lives. We know that Jesus was perfect, that He never sinned, and that He lived a life that was the extreme example for each of us to strive for. When we look at the attitude of Jesus and see His true heart, this is the true test of the kind of person we need to be, and also tells us how we are to get there. The Bible tells us, "Do not be transformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2 If you look at our society today, we are not being transformed into the likeness of God, but the world is transforming us to be like the world instead. We have compromised our values so much, just in our generation alone, that we are becoming a worldly nation, instead of a godly nation. The world is transforming and brainwashing us by its advertisements, its conversation, its sexuality, its permissive behavior, and all the other secular philosophies into a worldly nation. We are replacing God's values, and striving to be more like Him, by giving in to the world's values and being more like the world. A simple test to see if you are falling prey to this, is to time yourself the next time you read the Bible and pray. Compare this to the amount of time you spend watching television, surfing the internet, playing video games or other pastimes. Is God getting His share of your time and attention. This simple test will let you know if the world is shaping you, or if God is.
