God's Gentle Whispers

God's Gentle Whispers

"When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice."
John 10:4

Do you hear God speaking to you? If you don't hear Him speaking to you, your relationship is not what it needs to be. God does not play "hide and seek" with us. He wants you to know His voice and He will speak with you, but you have to get to know Him personally. You have to go to God in prayer and develop an intimate relationship with Him, by making Him the most important thing in your life. Most people make understanding God's word sound so difficult. They think it takes years of fasting and praying to be able to communicate with God, and hear Him talk to them. Jesus promises us in scriptures like the one above that, as His sheep, we will hear His voice. There are examples found in our Bible where God spoke to people through a gentle whisper. I like the one when God spoke to Elijah, when he got in trouble and ran from Jezebel. God took Elijah to a cave and let him hear the thunder and the shaking of the earth. Then Elijah heard God speak to him through a gentle whisper. If you have a personal relationship with God, you will hear from Him in a gentle whisper when you are also tempted to sin, as you will be convicted. So often, however, you don't listen to this gentle whisper, as you find it is more enjoyable and pleasurable to continue your sinful habits. Listening to God speak to you, is not always what you want to hear, but if you have the right relationship with Him, you will find that He will talk to you in a gentle whisper, and will direct your paths and lead you to do things that are right
